OUR SECTORS
Decarbonising sectors which are hard-to-electrify
HYRO produces e-fuels and green hydrogen to decarbonise industries which are hard to electrify because the energy requirements, infrastructure, or processes make direct electrification technically or economically unviable. HYRO works with these offtakers to develop projects that can provide a viable path to decarbonisation.
The sectors
HYRO works in
Aviation and e-SAF
Electrification is not currently a viable decarbonisation pathway for commercial aviation. Power-to-liquid sustainable aviation fuel provides a drop-in replacement for fossil aviation fuel, compatible with existing aircraft and infrastructure.
Chemical and Industrial
Industrial processes that rely on fossil-based feedstocks or require high-temperature heat can replace grey hydrogen and natural gas with green hydrogen — reducing emissions using existing assets.
Maritime and Shipping
Vessels operating global routes need a fuel solution suited to maritime shipping energy requirements and bunkering infrastructure. Batteries do not offer the energy density required for long routes and large cargos. E-methanol produced from green hydrogen is a leading decarbonisation pathway.
Off-Grid Power
Diesel generators at construction sites, data centres, hospitals and events produce significant CO₂ via the use of diesel generators. Hydrogen power units provide the same off-grid power capability with zero tailpipe emissions.
